Disney Princess "Nouveau Collection" Kindle screensavers.
Do you like Disney? How about art nouveau? If you own an Amazon Kindle and you're looking to add to your custom screensavers, the following images might be right up your alley!

In the spring of 2008, Disney unveiled the "Nouveau Collection," elegant designs inspired by classic art nouveau paintings. Available on journals, trinket boxes, faux stained glass suncatchers, and apparel, this re-imagining of some of Disney's most popular princesses was a welcome change from the typically youth-oriented items sold at the Disney Store... but the series vanished almost as quickly as it appeared.

However, with help from bloss_japanime, who posted high-res pictures of the journal covers, I've put together this delightful collection for use with your Kindle! Each screensaver file is grayscale and 600x800 in size -- click on the preview images for the full-sized pictures.

→ No hotlinking.
→ Please comment when taking a graphic or downloading a mix so I can see what people like!
→ When using icons or other graphics, please credit jesspark or whatzitsgalore.
→ Do not redistribute.
→ Enjoy! :D

If you need help adding (or removing) custom screensavers from your Kindle, this guide tells you everything you need to know.

Cleaning up and formatting these pictures took longer than you might think, so I ask that you don't alter or redistribute them. Thank you!

These are epically beautiful! I wish they used these images on the stuff in the stores! Thank you for sharing! *squee*

You're very welcome! I wish they'd continued this line, too -- I'm still bummed that they never released an Ariel journal! At least I have the trinket box. :)
Andieice_axel on January 12th, 2009 01:28 pm (UTC)
We never even got *any* of that stuff over here in the UK. What's worse is that they have redrawn Ariel and Aurora now....Ariel's nose looks very strange, she looks even younger like...10. Which is just wrong considering she's semi-naked lol!

Yeah, I share your British pain :(

Those are really pretty! Did they ever come out with a Belle nouveau?
Jessica Park: scholarly stitchjesspark on January 12th, 2009 12:56 pm (UTC)
The only thing I remember seeing -- and can find evidence of online -- was this shirt, which features Belle along with the other princesses (although you'll notice that Aurora's art is different than what's shown on other merchandise). You'd think Belle would be the first to get art nouveau love, but I guess not. :(

Great work!
I hope they resurect this series at some point - I'm still waiting for a pocahontus or Alice themed one!
Jessica Park: seabase alphajesspark on January 12th, 2009 01:05 pm (UTC)
Ohh, I hope they do, too! I think the Disney Store just needed to market it better. It was so sad to see the women's tops going for, like, three dollars online.

And thank you SO much for posting those high-res journal cover images! Splicing those suckers together isn't too fun -- I had to do the same for the Snow White picture; since I own the trinket box, I did a combo of scan and splice for Ariel -- and I really appreciate you sharing your efforts. :)
Aiyslebloss_japanime on January 12th, 2009 01:06 pm (UTC)
lol thats no problem, glad to see them going to good use!

These are so gorgeous. I wish I had a Kindle just so I could use them as the screensaver. XD

And, yes, like everyone else said, we need more merchandise with these images!
Jessica Parkjesspark on May 7th, 2009 04:49 am (UTC)
I won't lie: I've been known to sit and stare at my Kindle for moments on end when one of these images comes up as a screensaver. =) I'd love to have a framed print of the Ariel illustration in color! I think Disney would've made a mint off this series if they'd marketed it--well, at all.

How beautiful! I am favouriting this!

Yay! I'm glad everyone seems to enjoy these images; I thought it was a beautiful line and deserved more exposure than it got. :)

Poor Snow, "The Original Princess" >XP
How about something along the lines of "The Fairest Princess?"
Jessica Park: HAY YOU GUYSjesspark on May 7th, 2009 04:45 am (UTC)
That would've been a much better choice, I think!
Princesskittenkitty_smile on January 13th, 2009 05:42 am (UTC)
WOW Ive seen the first three but not ariel and jasmine. Ariel looks smoking hot with that come hither look. XD

Thanks for sharing I want more stuff like this ^.^
Jessica Park: scholarly stitchjesspark on May 7th, 2009 04:45 am (UTC)
I know, right? I'm so sad that they discontinued this line! I thought it was perfect: elegant and adult, but still obviously "Disney."

Your screensavers are absolutely gorgeous! I was so happy to find more Kindle screensavers available online.
I have posted a link to them on my blog here:
(at the bottom), I hope that's okay!
Thanks again for making these; they're beautiful!
Jessica Parkjesspark on May 7th, 2009 04:42 am (UTC)
I'm glad you like them! :) Disney did a great job with this line; I only wish they would've continued it.

There are a ton of awesome screensavers on your site, and I appreciate the link to mine! (I know what you mean about someone needing to take away your Photoshop access, hehe!) One teeny thing, if you get the chance to correct it: it's spelled "Whatzits Galore." ;)

Keep up the great work!
ext_186348 on May 7th, 2009 11:35 pm (UTC)
Aw, thanks.

I went to change the 's' to a 'z' and totally changed the wrong one. Fixed now!

PS- I had an interesting (for some value of the word 'interesting') little email exchange with a certain forum mod over at Kindle Maui who was posting my bgs without credit. Your name came up. That lady has issues, no? Did she go as psycho on you as she did on me?

We can be art-thief buddies!

Jessica Park: scholarly stitchjesspark on May 8th, 2009 12:04 am (UTC)
Ooooh, boy. =) She was... less than considerate... when I asked nicely if she could credit my screensavers. I didn't bother responding to her reply, but she added a cute little disclaimer to the Disney screensavers thread:

"Per her request, these images were posted without proper copyright authorization on kindleboards.com by user Jesspark.

All images (c) Walt Disney Corporation 2005."

Now I'm curious as to what she said to you! I figured she'd be over it by now... I guess not. Feel free to email me at giveagirlashark@gmail.com if you want to swap stories! ;)

Kindle screensaver art-thieves UNITE! ;D

These screensavers make me wish I had a Kindle :p

Would you have copies of the highres colour versions?
Jessica Park: HAY YOU GUYSjesspark on May 7th, 2009 02:58 pm (UTC)
Other than the link I provided above to the images that bloss_japanime posted and a cobbled-together version of the Ariel trinket box product photo... sadly, no. That's all I have.

Hi! I only recently discovered this line and am disappointed that it's so hard to find pictures of it even online...I went to bloss_japanime's entry but it seems most of the pics lead to error messages now. Do you by any chance still have them yourself? I really love both art nouveau and Disney princesses and would love to have them :)

Also, these make me want a Kindle even more :D Great job on them.
Jessica Park: seabase alphajesspark on May 20th, 2009 12:33 pm (UTC)
Remove the "/g18" from the URLs of the links that are displaying error messages; that should do the trick. :) Here's Aurora and Jasmine, both the second view. It looks like the Cinderella images work without modifying the URL.

Thanks for the kind words!
